What “unused mobile data” actually means
Unused gigabytes are not cash sitting in an account. The phrase covers several different leftovers, and only some of them are yours to decide about.
People say unused data when a plan still has gigabytes at the end of the month, when the Wi-Fi at home is uncapped, or when a phone is charging and idle. Those are three different situations.
An app that offers money for connectivity is asking to use one of them. MetaEdge's public description of The NEST places that kind of household idea in 2026, as an opt-in plan. It is not a paycheck, and it is not a reason to install a stranger's app tonight.
A cap is not a wallet
A remaining allowance on a phone plan can disappear at renewal, or it can be restricted for tethering and video. Until you read that line, you do not know whether anything is unused in a way you control.
A connection you share is not only yours
Dorm Wi-Fi, a family router, or a workplace network is paid for under someone else's terms. Offering it to an app can break those terms even when the app's screen looks friendly.
